Ruth 4:1-12
1. Trust the Redeemer’s timing and working.
•He commented on the sale of land which brings the two of them—Redeemers—into consideration not according to the letter of the law, but according to its spirit. Lev. 25:25, land; Deut. 25:5-10, levirate law.
•“Peloni Almoni” responds very favorably. (Who wouldn’t receive productive land and “redeem” what would come at very little personal cost!)
•Boaz sets forth what additionally would be “acquired” by the one with a redeeming spirit: the responsibility towards Ruth and Naomi.
•“Mr. So-and-so” cannot redeem at great cost to himself. Boaz intends to.
2a. Your redeemer has bought you at great cost to himself (1 Cor 6:20; Heb. 9:12).
2b. Sin pursues a narrow pleasure.
3. Righteousness pursues and aligns many things.
4. Being “bought” is the best thing.
“God takes us to Himself and says, ‘You are twice mine. I made you, I sought you, I bought you, you’re mine.’” -Alistair Begg

5. Redeem your memories or your goals in the gospel of Jesus.
“God can do good things through bad people and bad actions.”

May we together build up the house of Jesus because of the offspring that he will give us!
