Cleaning Out Every Boast
Romans 4:1-5 “What did Abraham find?” 1. Abraham’s family is a family of faith, not of flesh. 2. No one will find any reason for any kind of boast. Any kind of works give some kind of boast. The Scriptures teach that we are declared righteous on merit other than our own. Genesis 15:6 God justifies the ungodly. 3. A principle of works makes wages. 4. A principle of faith makes grace. A full and final act on my behalf removes any kind and any quantity of boasting. How could the resurrection result in a wage rather than a gift?
