What Knocks You Flat On Your Face?

Job 1 a. Job is presented normally. The patterns of normal life obtain for him. b. Job is presented specially. He is patterned after other mediators in the biblical story, especially Noah. Who has feared God and turned away from evil perfectly? Theological Overlook: The “Sons of God” and the Divine Council -Biblically, God created all spiritual beings (angels and humans). -Biblically, angels, not reproducing, are direct creations of God (i.e. “sons of God”). -Biblically, angels and demons are in no sense equal with God and are, in some senses, even inferior to us. -Plausibly, God created a definite number of angels once. -Plausibly, the rebellion with Satan happened once. -Plausibly, angels and demons are now more “outnumbered” by humans. 1. In your life, sin and righteousness is a battle of “wisdoms.” 2. God both permits and puts to better use the bad purposes of demons and man. 3. Glorifying God and gaining greater good may strip away worldly resources, creature comforts, and loved ones (on earth). 4. Meekly, Job points to the mightier mediator, Jesus. Like Job, learn to give God his honor flat on your face.
