CloseRomans 16:17-20 Observations A. Gospel advance is nitty-gritty. B. Divine Revelation is harmonious and mutually-attesting. -Interrelations between these names, persons, and the book of Acts. -Interrelations between Paul’s opening and closing of the letter to Rome. Romans 1:1-7 and 16:25-27 are an inclusio. The Practical Points of the Doxology 1. God strengthens you. 2. Hear, confess, and practice the gospel. “The durability promised is based on and comes through the Pauline gospel.” - Tom Schreiner 3. Christian confidence is based in the present and the past. Proclamation = active power, definite New Covenant message Prophecy = ancient wisdom, covering the whole human story and answering to every need of human nature 4. Christian obedience presents and participates in the gospel’s spread. The Ultimate Point of the Doxology 5. God is the fountain of all goodness, and his glory in salvation is our highest good.
