A Lifestyle of Turning Back to God

1 Thessalonians 1:6-8 1. Trust the right stories to grow and go. Don’t praise yourself; let others do it! (Prov. 27:2). We as Christians must cause praise of faithful service to fly around the world. 2. Christians help Christians. What does a reception look like among believers? 3. Turning back to God requires you to turn your back on everything else. -You are always “turned toward” something. 4. Service to God sets you free. You were made for something; every idolatry, at some level, agrees. 5. Expecting Christ’s return postures us for service. A salutary effect of your knowing that you know neither when you die or when Jesus returns is it gives you perpetual vigilance against idols. 6. Flee the wrath to come! We love rescues but hate to be told that we are in danger. Anticipating the return of Christ and contemplating divine wrath against sin is one of the very means by which we turn away from idols and serve God.
