Are You Still Astonished?

Mark 15:42-16:8 What kind of kingdom are you looking for? 1. How quickly do you turn cynical on God? Are you looking for a kingdom according to your plans, rather than his? Most of Jesus’ other “followers” had left. What use what they have for a dead leader? A dead Messiah? Note: Jesus is confirmed dead (1) by multiple eyewitnesses, (2) with multiple backgrounds, roles, and motivations, and (3) in accordance with standard operating procedure. 2. Trust the witness of these women (verse 47). “There were also women looking on…“ “Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw…” Why are the women so interested? Love. The women are qualified by their ongoing knowledge of Jesus‘s ministry and teachings and they are motivated only by love to see and be present at the tomb. 3. The resurrection makes the impossible possible. 4. The people of God believe the messengers of God and trust in the risen Lord. 5. Begin as a witness and messenger. Resurrection redefines your biography . . . And commissions you for your future.
