Romans 4:9-12 1. Faith concludes the blessing for all, including those “not
prepared.” What is the instrument?
“faith-unto-righteousness” or “a religious-sign-from-birth” 2. Faith makes us righteous, even when the old is around us.
“in uncircumcision” Paul establishes a more stable and durable way to read Genesis 12-17.
-Genesis 12: All families blessed through Abraham’s family
-Genesis 15: This promise of offspring Abraham believes unto
righteousness, while God, by himself, confirms it with a covenant
-Genesis 17: God, with Abraham, establishes a visible, outward
covenant by which the people will be marked out The New Covenant overlaps with and secures the promise of Abraham.
3. Believing has always been the make-or-break question. -Not all Old Covenant members were “promise-members.”
-Christian hope and church health are built on the foundation of faith in
the promise of God.
