“Speaking It Into Existence”: Cajoling What the Spirit Created

1 Thessalonians 1:2-5 1. Cajole what the Spirit created. Why do we ‘give thanks through prayer’? -A duty based on the nature of creation -A proper orientation of our our spiritual outlook -An example for imitation 2. Scriptural prayers please God and promote the right kind of growth in the body. 3a. Do not let others’ remaining sin hold back your compliments. 3b. Truth fruit reveals God’s choice; God’s choice promises full fruition. Why do we want to know that God has chosen us? -When the evidence of your eyes and the feelings of your heart seem to disqualify you, lean on the free choice of God’s heart. -This is the consistent use of election doctrine: (John 6:37; Eph. 1:4-5; 1 Peter 1:2-5; Acts 13:48; Rom. 8:28-29; 2 Tim. 1:9; 2 Thess. 2:13-14) How do we know that God has chosen us? The gospel came with -power, -Holy Spirit, -conviction, -imitation. 4. The Holy Spirit makes compelling testimony in us and molds brothers and sisters with it. So, we call out further what God called into existence.
