When Helping Hurts

Job 25-27 Observation (Bildad’s Claims, 25:1-6): a. All authority, all proper respect are due to God. b. God imposes order instead of chaos. Nothing holds back his power. c. His goodness and kindness are universal. Conclusion: No man will ever hold God in his debt. “Either God is in the wrong or Job is in the wrong.” Application: A Way of Waiting 1. Do not call worthless what God created good. God does not owe us anything—which does not imply that he does owe us mocking. 2. Right and true theology of an exalted and transcendent God doesn’t explain God; it prepares us to meet him! 3. Commit to honest self-assessment; work for integrity (27:1-6). 4. Delight in the Lord (27:7–10). Those who will love the final outcome, love God already. 5. Do not dilute the name of the Lord (27:11–12). 6. The increase of the wicked makes their downfall more terrifying
