All Generations to the Messiah; the Messiah for All Generations

Psalm 89 Observation vv. 1-4: God’s praise is continuous like all generations and is established like creation. -The Davidic covenant is now a parallel, permanent expression of God’s enduring faithfulness. -The messianic “offspring” secures the promise of all “offspring.” vv. 5-18: The world has been and should be the theater for God’s glorious character. God’s being (vv. 5-9) God’s saving actions (vv. 10-13) God’s covenant blessings (vv. 14-18) v. 19-37: Get fully into the context of the problem. -Your promised blessings are grand yet fulfilled only partially -Your promised punishments are serious and applied partially -How could you have made such promises from the beginning? -vv. 38-45: You have opposed your anointed one. [How? Why?] -vv. 46-48: How Long? Yes, because your promise stands . . . How Long?! -vv. 49-52: Where? From what corner will that steadfast love come? Application 1.
