“Vengeance Is Best Served... In Heaven”

Romans 12:19-21 1. Refraining from vengeance means waiting on the Lord. The world is full enough of both evil and accidents that you will have no peace if you try to wear the crown. Don’t fill in God’s “space.” 2. Waiting on the Lord participates in his vengeance. -When trust in God accompanies our longing for justice it participates in righteous vengeance. -When trust in man and doubt of God does so, it participates in petty, sinful vengeance. 3. The vengeance of God calms the violence of men. So many now recoil in horror at this idea that God has vengeance, at the notion that God repays. However, saucy and syrupy sentiment never stopped a cycle of violence. 4. In the kingdom of Christ, our kindness and mercy is taken up into the perfect purposes of both his grace and his justice. 5. You will need constant refilling and reorienting in order not to assume that you will overcome evil with evil.
