2 Corinthians 5:11-21
1. You can’t have the love of Christ without his resurrection.
-Paul endured afflication (ch. 1)
-The church must properly handle discipline and accountability (ch. 2)
-In the Old Covenant, these things are glorious—but unto death; in the New
Covenant, they are more glorious because they are unto life (ch. 3)
-the perfect light of the gospel comes through frail vessels (ch. 4).
The upside-down gospel creates upside-down ministry. (vv. 11-13).
2. Begin the life of the resurrection now!
Those saved by the gospel become those shaped by the gospel.
3. Look at yourself, look at everyone through the resurrection!
καινὴ κτίσις/kaine ktisis:
New creation
-removes the “evidence” of the old,
-provides a whole new way to think, measure, and value.
4a. The reconciled are reconcilers; evangelize the lost!
4b. The reconciled are reconcilers; give them a hearing!
Christianity is just one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread. (Isaiah 55:1)
5. Please, get right with God!
Christ, having no sin of his own, becomes a sin offering, so that you, having no righteousness of your own, may become righteous.
