You Reach for Jesus’ Hem; He Takes Your Hand
Matthew 9:18-26 1. Jesus is a king that “unworthies” can touch. We have many works to work under Christ, but nothing satisfies except Christ. Only Jesus can save the dead. 2. Jesus has unlimited power that you can get close to. Jesus’ power is controlled by his goodness, character, and saving intent. Is. 42:1-3 3. Do you believe that Jesus barely saves you? Rom. 8:18-21 4. Jesus loves you. The Lord Jesus raised a daughter from the dead; here, he turns and addresses his daughter. “We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” -C. S. Lewis, “The Weight of Glory” 5. Faith channels grace. The drawbridge of faith has closed; the traffic of grace flows through. 6. When the crowd divides over what is possible for Christ, be on the inside. 7. Faith knows that God will do what he said even when we do not yet know how. Through the means of faith, Jesus will save you by his grace.
