God is sending one like David yet surpassing David, fulfilling what to truly means to go before the people like a messenger of God. a. “David” points to Jesus b. The Holy Spirit makes our right response possible. c. We will see God—somehow visible. d. God will be pierced, killed. e. We will mourn our sin. f. God gathers and cleanses his people. 3. God opened a fountain of cleansing from sin and uncleanness for the scattered families of God’s people. 4. The New Covenant in Jesus has the power to fulfill all our needs. Eph. 2:13-14; Rev. 21:3-4; Rev. 22:16 5. God’s eternal, untouchable plan is to love his people in the glory of his Son. 6. The death of Jesus scatters his people.
