Romans 12:6-9a 1. What you use is what you have. -How do I know my spiritual gift? -What has the church around you called out and encouraged? 2. Words about the future are normed by the known truth. The future is not known, but the “The Rule of Faith” is. 3. Christian heroes have able hands and uplifting lips. God’s words itself expects that words and deeds will always be (1) necessary and (2) mutually supporting among God’s people. 4. Christian heroes are both “on stage” and “backstage.” Christian leadership and mercy must have a true, internal engine. 5. “Non-hypocritical love” is a sign of service aligned with God. “Genuine” = without hypocrisy or pretense Love: -seeking the good of another for their own sake -“. . . Jesus Christ laid down his life for us . . .” -1 Cor 13 Human love is perfected in the love that the gospel creates.
