Galatians 4:1-7
Context: Chapter 3
-You were saved by the Spirit— you will be sanctified in the same way!
-God has always redeemed from sin through faith, not law.
-The law clarifies fallenness into cursedness.
Observation: 4:1-7
-The heir’s authority is not yet exercised by him but by legal guardians. (vv. 1- 2).
-The law teaches the ABCs of the moral fabric of the universe and submission to God (vv. 3-4a).
-Our sonship based on his Sonship; His Sonship based on our Sonship. His law-keeping our law-keeping (vv. 4b-5).
-The heirs (1) receive the Spirit, (2) uniting them to the Son, (3) knitting them to the Father intimately (vv. 6-7).
-Therefore, you have been taken all the way from worldly slavery to divine inheritance!
Application
1. Christ saved you not just from foibles or shortcomings, but from curse.
2. The unity of our curse grounds the unity of our salvation.
3. Christmas is the “fullness of time.”

4. Christmas represents our adoption as heirs with Christ.
