The Righteousness of Law and of Faith

Romans 10:5-13 1. The law principle must become absurd before we let it go. The righteousness based on law boils down to an impossibility. If we shall be saved, another righteousness must be promised. Paul reads the OT and finds there a thread that says we cannot do anything (go up or down and get the Messiah); instead he sees that the word will dwell within us. 3. Do not plan out how you will earn righteousness; do not pick out who will do it for you. The word of the law is given to you such that you should obviously be able to keep it. The Word-made-flesh is given to you because you cannot keep the word of the law in the best circumstances. 3. God's plan is to get the word inside you. With the hear and with the mouth... The Inward Intensification of Worship Paul's reference to Deuteronomy is not merely a citation; it is an interpretation, an expectation of what was to be fulfilled. In a sense, all of Deuteronomy is taken up into Paul's context in Romans 10. 4a. The principle of faith removes barriers and distinctions. 4b. The principle of faith opens a storehouse of wealth.
