“Through the Eye of a Needle: Being Saved from the Broad Road”

Sunday Mornings

Matthew 7:13-23 1. Which road are you on? Where are you going? Jesus reminds us to look down at our feet and check our road. a. Look for a specific destination. b. Expect it to be less obvious than other alternatives. c. Press on to enter it. He that will enter in must first without Stand knocking at the Gate, nor need he doubt, That is a knocker, but to enter in, For God can love him, and forgive his sin. -John Bunyan 2. The general tendency of the human heart is destruction. James 1:14-15; 1Pet. 5:8 3. Brothers and sisters, beware of false prophets. No one inhabits any longer the office of prophet because it has its permanent eternal inhabitant: Jesus Christ. 4. You produce the fruit that fits with your nature. Galatians 5:22-23 Our deeds, we do based on our nature. And our new nature is a gift. Normal Christian growth includes fruit-checks. 5. The quietest false prophet is your own self-deception. Instead of finding it privilege to be in his presence, we act as if it shall be his privilege to be in ours. -Give the time necessary to observe the road and to see the fruit. -Desire God for God’s sake, not for something else he gives you. -Marvel at the shocking fact that anyone can be saved at all. You can be saved not because what is possible for men but because of what it is possible for God.
