Romans 7:7-13
1. The good law reveals the ugliness of sin more clearly.
2. The good law, upon contact with sinners, induces more sin.
3. The law “stirs up sin” to lead you to salvation.
-Do not be surprised when sin is stirred up—right before salvation!
-Be aware of the agitation that will come before great spiritual growth.
4. The self – righteous sinner “feels alive.”
Option A: a literal, legal death from the law
Option B: a metaphorical, personal death from the law
5. Try really hard to be better than everyone else… and find Jesus at the end.
6a. When sin and true guilt grow together, salvation waits at the door.
Sin becomes sinful beyond measure, and all will affirm the judgment of God.
6b. God intended to increase the sin of those whose punishment he would take.
If sin in the sinner becomes “sinful beyond measure,” how much greater than you ever imagined must the righteousness of Christ be?
