Daily Life and the Deep Things of God
Colossians 3:18-4:1 1. The gospel redeems our relationships, including and especially family. True Christianity neither idolizes nor downplays the natural family. -The gospel is neither true nor significant because it redeems our families, -but the Gospel’s truth and significance does redeem our families. 2. Well-ordered relationships deserve encouragement and reminder. Col. 2:5 3. Wives, it is in line with the Lord to keep in alignment with your husband. “As is fitting in the Lord” is both an orienting and a limiting principle. 4. Husbands, cover your marriage, clothe your wife, with loving- kindness. Your tongue and your personal presence should soothe and provide consistency for your wife, not cause bitterness within her. 5. Children, in line with your parents’ commands, see God. Fathers, use steadiness, not surprise, to establish authority. 6. Those who work, by giving directions or receiving them, must work toward a higher and impartial judgment. 7. You always have a reason to get out of bed!
