Love Your Life and Prepare to Leave
1 John 2:12-17 1. Within the “children” of the church are fathers and young men. “children” =The whole church “fathers” = Spiritual “young men” = Spiritual 2. God considers our tiny and time-bound experience. -Psalm 103:13-14 A. We all rejoice in forgiveness, for the sake of his great name. B. As we “know,” more actively and more completely, our Lord in various aspects of life, we become greater spiritual parents. C. As we use our strength of will, time, and energy, we become greater spiritual youths. 3. The abiding word in a strong one who is busy in the battle produces a spiritual parent full of wisdom. 4. What you truly “know,” you love; what you truly love, you know. 5. The flesh, eyes, and pride mask the impermanence of the world. “We haven’t lost control of our lives; we’ve lost the illusion that we ever were in control.” -Lecrae 6. Salvation solves the problem of permanence. What was all-too permanent, the gospel made temporary. What was all-too temporary, the gospel made permanent.
