Dragons and Dominion: How Christ’s Birth Strengthens Us
Revelation 12 Observation: • Be careful not to “connect the dots” across the whole section and then find what it “really is talking about.” At each “moment” or “phase” of reading the chapter impresses its meaning on the reader. - “The woman” - The dragon - Action - Conflict - Consequences - Conclusions • The woman “idealizes” the people of God. • Christ as the “male child” guarantees the downfall of the dragon’s designs. Application: 1. Christmas is a climax of a plan before all time. 2. As with all who worship the Lamb, you will be pursued by the wrath of the dragon—but never by the wrath of God. 3. The Devil fights the archangel Michael (and loses)—a fact that signals the extent of his power. 4. God will strengthen and use the church to crush Satan. (Rom. 16:19-20) 5. Natural events (storms, jobs, taxes, politics) mediate others’ intentions. 6. God’s intentions for his “offspring” all work together.
