How to Soften Your Sorrow: Part 2

Job 36-37 1. Speak of God—and hear him spoken of—when it is hard. -Bear with me: the wise guys had no patience for things that seemed “abstract” -Knowledge from afar: the wise guys focused on what was under their noses. -“Perfect”: the wise guys never discussed what “cannot be false”! 2. God is strong and kind. You know he is strong in his arm; do you know that he is strong in his heart? 3. The godly in heart cry out to God, even when he ties them down. -God so orders affliction that it curses the godless and blesses the godly. -God so loves his people that he cajoles and “carefully considers” what allures them. 4. Don’t show up to God’s feast already full on worldly trash! 5. Sin is not kind enough to leave you alone when you are weak. 6. You will die young without spiritual exercise. We can worship God because we know him truly; he is worthy of worship because we do not know him fully. Whose heart do you trust today?
