When You Can’t Trace His Hand, Trust His Heart

Job 23-24 Observation: Job’s Thoughts A. How sweet it would be to come before God! (23:1-7). B. The hiddenness of God confuses me (23:8-12). C. Because God will not be stopped by mere pity, I fear him, yet he lets me speak into the darkness as long as I need (23:13-17). D. Why does God not settle accounts now? (24:1). E. The evil of the wicked builds around us! (24:2-22). F. Because God delays, he has given the wicked their success (24:23). G. The wicked are cut down by the same death that cuts us all down (24:24-25). Application: 1. You will be frustrated by the world’s reckoning all throughout life and overjoyed by the final reckoning at the end. 2. The study of God’s character and plan calms confusions. God has purposes beyond our wildest imaginations; how could we know them? (Isaiah 55:6-9; Eph 3:20-21; Romans 11:33-36; 1 Cor. 2:16). You know that God’s hiddenness has worked out unto Christ’s sacrifice and your pardon from sin. Trust him with the rest. 3. Talk in the midst of life to the one who will talk for you at its end.
