Proverbs 3:1-8
A. Reject “Easy-Rememberism.”
Don’t “take it for granted.”
Don’t give your memory so much credit.
Don’t assume that you always treasure the right things.
Rewards = (time + peace) + (success + favor)
B. Reject the Prosperity Gospel.
1. In every corner where and your heart cares, trust the Lord.
If we must trust the Lord with all of the heart, by definition nothing we care about is “too small” or “inappropriate“ to take to God in prayer.
2. In every action you must take, in every habit you must establish, keep God the central priority.
a) Be completely impressed with God’s Word.
b) Don’t be impressed with yourself.
b) Humble yourself in your own eyes.
c) Examine and exult in the gifts God gives to and through others.
“Everyone you meet is more expert at something than you; in that become his or her student.“
3. Spiritual/Physical health depends on humility and worship.
Enjoying the many and various ways God populates his world with exactly the right people, who possess exactly the right gifts, at exactly the right time helps you (1) appropriately to value your own skills and abilities, (2) to do the same for others, and (3) to be sure that God alone is your ultimate fear, the one you ultimately respect.
