“Male and Female, He Created Them”
Proverbs: Men and Women 1. Men and women alike must trust grace and kindness (11:16, 11:17, 12:8). 2a. Men and women differently must avoid likely sins (14:17, 15:18, 16:29, 25:19, 19:22, 21:24, 23:27, 23:28). 2b. Men and women together must connect inward and outward beauty (11:22, 27:20). 3. Test whether your actions build or consume a “house” (13:22, 14:1, 21:20, 27:8). 4. A man’s life is in the hands of his wife (18:22, 12:4, 19:14, 21:9, 21:19, 25:24, 27:15-16). a. “A Proverbs 31 woman . . .” b. “A Proverbs 31 man . . .” 5a. Knows long-range good for a wide range of people. 5b. Treasures his wife’s time and talent. 6a. Understands economy. 6b. Cares for this context of flourishing. 7a. Loves and serves, from poor to powerful, public to private. 7b. Leads the encouraging praise. With a wide-angle lens, take in the full picture of Men and Women: the world is the true story of Christ the Groom preparing, purifying, and delighting in his bride.
